BOYS SOCCER

Victor 3,
Rush-Henrietta 2

The Victor boys soccer team opened its season with a win on Thursday night as they defeated Rush-Henrietta 3-2.
Matty Brunton opened the scoring for Victor in the first half. Rush-Henrietta would tie the score on a goal by Nour Hafan.
The Blue Devils retook the lead in the second half on a goal from Ryan DeLong. The Royal Comets would again battle back to tie the score, with Hafan getting the equalizer.
Corbin Kilmer netted the eventual game-winner for Victor, putting the Blue Devils up 3-2 with seven minutes left in the game.
Rush-Henrietta falls to 1-1.

Penn Yan 2,
Waterloo 0

The Penn Yan boys soccer team defeated Waterloo on Thursday night in the Mustangs’ first game of the season.
Geoffrey Rouin got Penn Yan on the board nine minutes into the game off when he scored from 18 yards out off an assist from Angel Feria. Eric Johnson gave the Mustangs a late insurance goal when he scored with 42 seconds left in the contest.

Mynderse 3,
Marcus Whitman 0

The Blue Devils kicked off their season with a win on Thursday, defeating visiting Marcus Whitman 3-0.
Playing on the team’s new turf field, Jason Anderson recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Mynderse attack. Brandon Bellis and Jacob Hartwell each had a goal to round out the scoring, while Stephan McCann and Michael Barbay combined for the shutout in goal.
Marcus Whitman falls to 0-1.

Pal-Mac 3,
Midlakes 1

Quintin Ashley notched a pair of goals for Pal-Mac as the Red Raiders defeated Midlakes 3-1.
Ashley got the scoring started midway through the first half. Midlakes’ John Tuttle tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 43rd minute, and the teams would play even until late in the second half when Ashley struck again.
Ashley netted his second goal of the match in the 76th minute, scoring off a pass from Noah West. Colby Baker would add a goal two minutes later off an assist from Devin Robson to give the Red Raiders a two goal advantage.

Newark 1,
Geneva 0

The Newark boys soccer team earned a win in the first game of the season, defeating Geneva 1-0.
Joshua Blondell scored the lone goal of the contest with 10 minutes left on the clock, finding the back of the net off a corner kick from Baron Thurston. Daniel Staples recorded 15 saves to earn the shutout in goal.
Gabe Brassett kept Geneva (0-2) in the game with 15 saves as well.


BOYS SOCCER

Victor 3,

Andrew Wager got HF-L on the board with 11 minutes left in the first half. Brett Peters added an insurance goal in the 61st minute off an assist from Luke Brust.
The win moves HF-L to 1-0, 1-0. Canandaigua is now 1-2, 0-1 in league play.

Honeoye 7,
South Seneca/Romulus 2

The Honeoye boys soccer team improved to 2-1 with a win over South Seneca/Romulus.
Sophomore Justin Kraft recorded two goals and two assists to lead the Bulldogs. Pat McNamara added two goals, while Andrew Egan made seven saves to earn the win in goal.

Pittsford Mendon 2,
Brighton 1

The Vikings improved to 3-0 on the season with a late win over visiting Brighton.
Matt D’Amico scored for Mendon with 40 seconds left in the game to break a 1-1 tie. Cameron Perna got the scoring started midway through the second half to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.
Josh Hunt scored the lone goal of the match for Brighton, tying the contest at 1-1 in the 67th minute.
Aaron Fowlkes made nine saves to earn the victory in goal.

Batavia 2,
Eastridge 0

Paul Smith recorded seven saves to earn the shutout in goal and lead Eastridge over Batavia.
Bobby Rosato and Mazin Mohamed each had a goal for the Blue Devils. Rosato’s goal game 20 seconds into the game off an assist from Jake San Filipo, while Mohamed’s goal came unassisted in the 37th minute.

Greece Athena 1,
Churchville-Chili 0

The Greece Athena boys soccer team began its season with a win on Thursday night as they defeated visiting Churchville-Chili 1-0.
Jon Clark made six saves to earn the shutout in goal. Joe Biuso netted the lone goal of the match midway through the first half, scoring off a pass from Alex Loete.
Mike Luciw recorded seven saves for Churchville-Chili (0-3).

Greece Arcadia 6,
Greece Olympia 1

The Greece Arcadia boys soccer team continued its strong play to open the season, defeating Greece Olympia 6-1.
Mitchell Brickman and Lucas Egan each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Titan attack. Mike Casab, Berk Bozaci and Ben Zeller each added the first goal of their varsity careers in the victory.
Greece Arcadia (3-0) has totaled 12 goals in its first three games of the season.

Brockport 3,
Hilton 1

Brockport improved to 2-0 on the season with a win over Hilton.
Stephen Monfort, Jakob Bartalo and Justin Mercer each recorded a goal for the Blue Devils. Michael Sweden notched six saves to earn the victory in goal.
Jared Harris had the lone goal for Hilton (1-1).

Webster Schroeder 4,
Penfield 0

Senior Sean Loucks tallied two goals and one assist to lead Webster Schroeder over host Penfield on Thursday.
David Wanits and Giancarlo Miceli each added a goal, while Andy Siviy made two saves for his second shutout of the year.
Webster Schroeder improves to 2-1 while Penfield falls to 0-2.

Pittsford Sutherland 3,
Irondequoit 2
overtime

Sophomore Michael Ryan scored five minutes into the first over to lift Pittsford Sutherland to a win over Irondequoit in the Knights’ first game of the season.
The game started at a furious pace, as Sutherland junior Stephen Quinzi opened the scoring two minutes into the game. Ryan Cribbin tied the game for Irondequoit (0-1) with a goal one minute later, but the Knights retook the lead eight minutes after than on a goal by junior Max Black. A goal by Irondequoit’s Justin Slattery tied the game at 2-2 until Ryan netted the game winner in overtime.
Lee Drinkwater made nine saves to earn the victory in goal.

Gates Chili 2,
Spencerport 0

Gates Chili improved to 2-1 with a win over Spencerport.
Cody Cavaglia and Dylan Pettit each scored in the first half for the Spartans. Ryan May finished with eight saves to earn the shutout in goal.
Spencerport falls to 0-1.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Waterloo 12-25-27-25,
Midlakes 25-20-25-21

Madison Coriale notched 27 assists to lead Waterloo over Midlakes in girls volleyball.
Emily Boudreau had 12 digs and eight kills, Lauren Deming made 18 digs and Lindsay Johnson had 15 kills and the Indians improved to 2-0, 2-0 in league play.
Celia Cordero recorded 14 digs and eight kills to lead Midlakes (2-1, 2-1). Anna Coryell added 18 assists.

Victor 25-25-25,
Rush-Henrietta 10-14-18

The Victor girls volleyball team improved to 3-0, 2-0 in league play, with a win over Rush-Henrietta on Thursday.
Hannah Smith paced the Blue Devils with 38 digs.
Emily Nestler led Rush-Henrietta with six digs.

Pittsford Sutherland 25-25-25,
Brighton 6-6-12

Luisa Shirmer tallied nine kills, five aces and one block to lead Pittsford Sutherland over Brighton in girls volleyball.
Monica Senna added 12 assists, two aces and one block, Maria Bisognano made six kills and Rebecca Gainsburg chipped in seven service points and four digs.

GIRLS SWIMMING AND DIVING

Pal-Mac 105,
Newark 80

The Pal-Mac girls swimming and diving team picked up a win in their first meet of the season, outlasting Newark by a score of 105-80.
Ellie Jones was a double event winner for the Red Raiders, as she placed first in the 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle. Erin Hutchison (100 butterfly), Danielle Alexander (100 backstroke) and Alexandra Waasdorp (200 IM) were single event winners, while the team also placed first in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
Leah Marvin (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) was a double event winner for Newark (0-1). Megan Kreuser placed first in the 200 freestyle while Alexandra House won the diving competition with a score of 157.60.

Geneva 109,
Midlakes 76

Alex Berg-Pappert (100 breaststroke, 200 IM) and Katherine Lyons (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) were double event winners for Geneva as the Panthers defeated Midlakes.
Katie Spychalski placed first in the 100 butterfly and Emily Taegder-Vrooman won the 100 backstroke, while Geneva also placed first in all three relays.
Grace Gallentine was a double event winner for Midlakes, placing first in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, while Ashley Arnold won the diving competition with a score of 167.40.

Marcus Whitman 110,
North Rose-Wolcott 68

Natalie Johnson (100 backstroke, 100 butterfly), Courtney Copper (100 breaststroke, 200 IM) and Amelia Stash (50 freestyle, 500 freestyle) were both double event winners for Marcus Whitman as the Wildcats defeated North Rose-Wolcott in the first dual meet of the season.
Jamie Cook picked up a win in the diving competition, while Marcus Whitman also won all three relay races.
Jordann Pendleton was a double event winner for North Rose-Wolcott, winning the 100 and 200 freestyle.

Greece 87,
East/SOTA 55

The Greece swimming and diving team defeated East/SOTA on Thursday by a score of 87-55.
Sarah Boily won a pair of events to lead Greece, placing first in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Amanda Spencer (200 freestyle), Delaney Labue (200 IM), Ashley Vandermeer (100 butterfly), Lindsey Hodges (100 backstroke) and Alexis Carbonel (500 freestyle) were single event winners.

Brighton 119,
Mercy 66

The Brighton girls swimming and diving team defeated Mercy on Thursday, sweeping all three relay events on their way to victory.
Katherine Kasha (100 breaststroke, 200 IM) and Nicole Fico (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) were double event winners for the Barons. Jenny Fromm (100 butterfly) and Nancy Nasky (500 freestyle) were single event winners.
Autumn Hunter (100 backstroke) and Krista Barbeau (200 freestyle) were single event winners for Mercy, while Shelby Delladio won the diving competition with a score of 182.50.

GIRLS TENNIS

Marcus Whitman 3,
Newark 2

The Marcus Whitman girls tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Thursday as they defeated Newark 3-2.
Heidi Rice, Kerry Smith and Ella Kikkert were all winners in singles competition for the Wildcats.

Canandaigua 4,
Victor 3

The Canandaigua girls tennis team defeated Victor in a non-divisional match on Thursday, improving to 2-1 on the season.
The deciding point was won by Sarah Kenton and Libby Roberts at first doubles, where the pair won 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to secure the match. The teams of Chloe Karnisky/Elisa Sloth and Ali Bamonto/Tenley Albright were also winners in doubles play for the Braves, while Sara Benham picked up a win in fourth singles.
Ajia Karabegoure, Esha Mehta and Emily Stanley were all winners in singles play for Victor.

GIRLS SOCCER

Webster Thomas 2,
Victor 0

Playing in the Irondequoit Tournament, Webster Thomas defeated Victor 2-0.
Alex Kelly put the Titans up 1-0 with a goal seven minutes into the game of an assist from Julie Episcopo. Nicole Gerritz gave Thomas some breathing room with a goal in the 24th minute. Brenna Mason stopped six shots for her second shutout of the year.
Thomas will face Irondequoit in the tournament finals.

Irondequoit 1,
Canandaigua 0

Playing in the Irondequoit Tournament, Aquinas transfer Brenda Sparacio scored with two minutes left in the game off a free kick from Merci Young to lift the Eagles to a win over Canandaigua.
Hannah Zlotnick made three saves to earn the shutout in goal.
Irondequoit will face Webster Thomas in the finals.

Newark 4,
Hannibal Central 1

Playing in the Sodus Tournament, the Newark girls soccer team defeated Hannibal 4-1 to advance to the finals against the host team.
Brandi Lauer scored all four goals for the Reds, including three in the first 15 minutes of the first half. Elizabeth Kline made nine saves to earn the win in goal.

Sodus 7,
Webster Christian 0

Playing in the Sodus Tournament, the Spartans defeated Webster Christian to advance to the finals against Newark.
Tierra Gahr paced Sodus (2-1) with two goals and two assists. Sarah Latulipe and CeCe Spano each added two goals in the victory.

Midlakes 4,
South Seneca 1

Kylee Hughes scored two goals and had one assist to lead Midlakes over South Seneca.
Christy Orlando and Allison Clements each added a goal for the Screaming Eagles, while Maggie Notter made five saves to earn the victory in goal.
Meghan Perry notched the lone goal for South Seneca.

Mercy 1,
Aquinas 0

The Mercy girls soccer team ran its season record to 2-1 with a victory over visiting Aquinas on Thursday.
After Aquinas was called for a handball in the box with 21 minutes left in the game, senior Julia Delgatti scored on the ensuing penalty kick to lift Mercy to the win.
Senior Alana Olivieri made seven saves to earn her first shutout in goal. Junior Kristen Vito recorded nine saves for Aquinas (1-1).

Honeoye 5,
Romulus 0

The Honeoye girls soccer team earned its first win of the season on Wednesday night as they defeated Romulus 5-0.
Taylor Pestle led the Bulldogs with two goals. Kylie McBride, Jana Balcerak and BreAnna Bugbee each added a goal while Erica Cratsley and Tirzah Blackstone each had one assist.
Sarah Gray made five saves to earn the shutout in goal, while Jenny Tompkins had 24 saves for Romulus (0-1).
