Healthcare is a big topic of conversation these days. From the Supreme Court to the kitchen table, Americans are trying to understand its complexities and deal with its costs.

Politics and policy debates aside, there is no question that many forces are at work in the healthcare system. Among these are the choices we make every day about what we eat, how much exercise we get and other behaviors that impact our well-being throughout our lives.

Making the right choices means having the right information. That’s why, from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 19, I will host my annual Health and Wellness Fair at Temple B’rith Kodesh in Brighton, 2131 Elmwood Ave.

Representatives from dozens of agencies will be on hand to answer your questions and provide free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose tests. For more information about the Health and Wellness Fair, please call my office at (585) 467-0410.

It is my hope that in some small way, events like this will help put people of all ages on the path to better lifestyles and healthier, longer lives.

I hope to see you there!
