Young Audiences of Rochester will celebrate its 55th anniversary with a series of community events to showcase its artists and support its Arts Grow Hearts campaign.
Sights and Sounds for the Art will kick off the event schedule from 3 to 5 p.m. May 21 at Record Archive Back Lounge, 33-1/3 Rockwood St., Rochester. Local singer Fatima Razic will pay tribute to loved ones by delivering prepurchased lovegrams. Song choices are available online. Each lovegram costs $55.
Spoken work artist Jeiri Flores will also perform. The event will include free Java’s coffee and beer, wine, cider and soda for purchase.
Jack Garner will speak at Writing for the Arts from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 8 at Badfish Consulting, 274 N. Goodman St., Rochester.
Garner worked as chief film critic for a local newspaper for 30 years before he retired in 2007. Notable works include reviewing the original “Star Wars” and being part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of the Attica prison rebellion.
Tickets for the cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception cost $40 per person.
Circus for the Arts will end the celebration from 3 to 4 p.m. June 25 at Edgerton Stardust Ballroom, 41 Backus St., Rochester. YA teaching artists Doug Rougeux and Nels Ross Cremean will demonstrate bubbleology and juggling skills after the show.
Tickets cost $15 for adults, $8 for seniors and $10 for ages 12 and younger before June 23. Admission costs $20 for adults and $10 for seniors and children after June 23.
