An AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps team is serving with Genesee Land Trust through June 4 to fix trails and provide a ribbon of green space in a community with little opportunity for outdoor recreation.
The team, Buffalo 6, is focusing on repairing eroded trails that are hazardous, improving the line of sight along the trails, clearing overgrown brush and continuing ongoing maintenance by consolidating garden beds.
“Buffalo 6 is excited for the opportunity to contribute to clean urban trails and green spaces,” said Joe Sewall, team leader. “This type of work is where our commitments to environmental stewardship and communities’ quality of life intersect.”
Genesee Land Trust is responsible for preserving and protecting over 4,500 acres of wildland and waterways in the Greater Rochester area. Its conservation priorities are the north coast, local farms and giving urban families a connection to nature.
