Runnings recently announced that it will continue its northeast expansion by opening a store in Brockport.
The store is tentatively scheduled to open in April and will employ 75 team members. A grand opening is scheduled for May.
Runnings is a family-owned general merchandise retailer. The company offers more than 100,000 items, including sporting goods, clothing, footwear, pet supplies, housewares, tools, farm supplies, lawn and garden supplies, toys and outdoor equipment. The store also offers hunting, fishing and archery equipment and accessories, as well as firearms.
The new store will offer an extensive selection of brands, such as DeWalt, Under Armour, Cub Cadet, Purina, Browning, Federal, Carhartt, Wrangler and Nutrena.
Runnings purchased an existing vacant retail space in Brockport and has been working on renovations to the new store since 2016. This locally managed, 97,000-square-foot location will serve the needs of customers.
The new store is the latest in a number of store openings in the company’s first expansion into the northeast, which started in September 2014, with stores in Canandaigua, Rome and Gloversville. Stores in Clay and Claremont, New Hampshire, were opened in 2015. Runnings was established in 1947.
“We’ve had a great response from customers to our new stores so far, and Runnings is very excited to be continuing our expansion into the northeast,” said Dan Herrmann, chief operations officer. “We’re committed to being an active part of the community through job creation and offering top quality products that you can’t find anywhere else.”
