Ramn Santiago Studio and SC Fine Art Gallery will host “Retro Art: The Seventies!” from 6-10 p.m. on Feb. 3 at their shared space at 179 Atlantic Ave. in Rochester, according to a press release.
The exhibit showcases works by SCFA artists that pay homage to the iconic style of the late 1970s and the disco era at 179 Atlantic Ave. and Elton Street.
Light food and beverages will be served.
The exhibit will feature two and three dimensional art by Ramn Santiago, Frank Argento, Shawn Dunwoody and Sara Pulver, as well as photography by Lori Horton of Gramma’s Cameras; blown glass by Chelsea Foehr & Jeremy Griffith of Delish Glass; pottery by Richard Monikowski of RAM Stoneware; artisan jewelry by Michelle Bellanti of Bellanti Jewelry; Kim Kircher and Kathy Higgins of K. Higgins & Co.; and Claire Albertson of Claire Flair.
A multimedia presentation of Santiago's art, candid photos and NYC gallery show photos from the 1970s are among the many highlights of the evening.
Ten Ugly Men representatives also will be on hand to promote and offer tickets to the ninth annual 2012 Ugly Disco Bash, along with designer Raul Siro of Siro Designs and Rochester Fashion Week co-founder Shawn Dunwoody, who will showcase 1970s couture and disco fashion.
Santiago is Rochester’s most famous and collected artist. His imagery is recognized internationally and his career spans more than three decades.
Santiago exhibited to sold out shows at New York City galleries throughout the 1970s and is known for a surreal style.
