SUNY Geneseo senior Ian Mort, a Greece resident and graduate of McQuaid, earned SUNYAC Player of the Week honors after amassing eight points in a 2-0-0 week for the Knights.
The senior had a foot in all five Geneseo scores with three goals and two assists in the opening weekend of SUNYAC competition.
On Friday, Mort helped break a scoreless game with Fredonia as he picked up an assist at 50:10 before scoring an insurance goal 20 minutes later. The next day, Mort struck early against Buffalo State at the 3:00 mark from 10 yards out.
He collected his second goal of the game seven minutes later on a flick header after a corner kick. Mort assisted on a give-and-go in the second half for the final 3-0 score. Geneseo is tied at the top of the league standings and will travel to New Paltz and Oneonta this weekend.
