Four individuals have been charged in connection with five bank robberies that ocurred in late September and early October.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested Israel Romero, 24, Sarah Cooney, 23, and Jeffrey Bliss,48, and Anthony Way, 27, all of Rochester, in connection with the robberies.
Two Chase Banks were robbed in September, including Chase on Fairport Nine-Mile Point Road in Fairport on Sept. 22, and the branch in Pittsford on Sept. 29.
Three banks were robbed in October, including M&T in Penfield on Oct. 9, Chase Bank on Fairport Road in East Rochester the same day, and Bank of America in Churchville on Oct. 3.
All four individuals were arraigned in Penfield Town Court on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and charged with robbery in the second degree.
According to sheriff's spokesman John Helfer, a citizen recognized a stain from a red dye pack given to Romero by a teller at the M&T bank on Tuesday and called police.
Romero, who Helfer says was the ringleader of the group, was taken into custody, and the investigation let to the arrest of the other suspects.
Romero, Cooney and Way were remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, $50,000 bond. Bliss was remanded to the Monroe County Jail with no bail.
The amount of cash stolen has not been disclosed.
