Monroe County GOP Chairman Bill Reilich held a press conference this afternoon to address the upcoming vacancy in the Monroe Legislature's 16th District.
Reilich announced that Dr. Joe Carbone of Irondequoit will seek the seat in a special election this fall. Carbone did challenge incumbent Vincent Esposito, D, Irondequoit, for the seat last fall, but Esposito was reelected.
Esposito announced late Monday that he would be resigning from the legislature, effective July 20, to accept a state post.
Former County Legislator Stephanie Aldersley, D, Irondequoit, subsequently announced that she will seek an appointment to fill the vacancy and run in a special election to complete Esposito's term this fall
