State troopers have released the name of the Rochester teen who died after being involved in a one-car crash in Greece on Monday morning.

Heriberto Sanchez, 17, from Rochester, was pronounced dead at Strong Memorial Hospital, after crashing the car he was driving on the Lake Ontario State Parkway at about 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Just prior to the accident, troopers were northbound on Lake Avenue, and observed what they believed to be the vehicle driven by Sanchez traveling southbound on Lake Avenue move into the northbound lane.

According to troopers, the vehicle then passed through a red light and proceeded westbound on the Parkway at a high rate of speed.

Troopers said the car went off the road, and ended up wrapped around two trees near the Dewey Avenue Exit.

A passenger in Mr. Sanchez's car was seriously injured and remains at Strong.

Lidia Fontanez, 16, also from Rochester, remains at Strong in guarded condition. Troopers said Fontanez suffered a broken jaw and right arm.

The crash is still under investigation.
