Greece Athena High School alumnus, M.Yvette Bedgood, has landed an Off-Broadway role as "Jessie", in Honestly Abe in NYC.

Bedgood began singing in middle school at Greece Athena, but credits Judith Ranaletta (former Greece Athena High School music teacher), in cultivating her craft.

"Ran, introduced her students to all types of music, which grew my love of musical theatre and opera," Bedgood said. "At that point, I decided music was my future".

At Athena,  Bedgood was active in the music department, and drew All-County and All-State spots.

After graduating from high school, she attended SUNY College at Buffalo, and was active musically and socially on campus. After college, she was active in WNY, singing with The Buffalo Philharmonic and also various theatre/opera productions.

Recently, Bedgood has performed in at Marvin Hamlisch's Memorial Service, Carnegie Hall with The NY Pops, The Kimmel Center with The Philly Pops, the famed "Don't Tell Mama" Cabaret Club, and at The Actor's Fund Gala with Brian Stokes Mitchell.

Bedgood has performed leading and supporting roles in classical and musical theatre productions regularly throughout NYC, Philadelphia and NJ.

"It's surreal to see your dreams coming true," Bedgood said. "You work so hard and when it happens, it feels hard to believe.

"My family is way up in Rochester, but the perseverance does pay off".
