A Clifton Springs man was charged Aug. 26 after a incident that involved him allegedly striking a patrol vehicle with a PVC pipe, said Ontario County sheriff’s deputies.

According to police, Robert W. Borland, 54, of 25 Ladue Ave., allegedly broke a woman’s phone during an altercation where she was on the phone with a 911 operator. Borland also allegedly jumped on the roof of the woman’s car until it caved in, deputies said. When police arrived, Borland grabbed a short PVC pipe and allegedly struck a patrol vehicle. Deputies said he caused over $250 of damage to the police car and over $250 in damage to the woman’s car.

He was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief, and one count of violating the public health law, deputies said.

He was sent to the Ontario County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $4,000 bail bond. He will answer charges at the Village of Clifton Springs Court.
