Three event highlights

1

The Holzhackern Tyrolean Band, from North Carolina, kicks off the 25th annual Oktoberfest in Irondequoit. The band, with a three-piece horn line, starts playing at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 14, and will also headline the festival Saturday, Sept. 15. Their show includes lots of dance-able international music — and audience participation.

2
The 10-piece Krazy Firemen, Rochester’s “original Oktoberfest band,” returns to play at Irondequoit’s 25th annual Oktoberfest from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 15.

3
Making their debut performance at this year’s Oktoberfest in Irondequoit will be the 10-person — eight musicians and two vocalists — Classic Memories band, which will present a little something for everyone: German, Austrian, Ukrainian and even Latin music.

Why you should attend

The annual Oktoberfest at Irondequoit’s Camp Eastman is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012. It started in 1987 and has grown every year since, now encompassing two weekends and five full days of “gemutlichkeit,” or traditional, spirited German music, entertainment, food and more.

There are even special activities for younger fans (up to age 10), from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 2 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
