On Thursday, Aug. 9 at the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Historical Societies “Annual Picnic and Volunteer Awards Ceremony” Bob Owens, Jr., president of the society, announced the winner of the “2012 Volunteer of the Year”, Mike May.
May was chosen as the volunteer of the year by a vote of the members of the society. He was presented a plaque to thank him for his 20 years of service as a volunteer. He is currently a trustee and curator of the society.
The Lighthouse's "Volunteer of the Year" award was established in 1998 as a result of the special donations received in honor of Lois and Norman Dunn's 50th wedding anniversary.
