In what she called a "symbolic gesture" Friday afternoon, State Senate hopeful Robin Wilt made a public statement at the office of her opponent, Joe Robach to return campaign mailings Wilt says violate campaign financing policy.

"Senator Robach is abusing his privileges of office in order to campaign on the public dime," said Wilt.

She and her supporters gathered outside the office at 2300 West Ridge Rd. in Greece around 12:30 p.m. where Wilt demanded that her opponent refund taxpayers for the mailings.

Kirk Morris, Robach's spokesperson, said the mailings did not violate any rules, since the fliers in question were approved by the Senate Democratic Majority before they were released.

"Senator Robach has a responsibility to inform constituents who deserve and want to know what is occurring in the state legislature," said Morris.

Both candidates are vying for the New York Senate Seat in the 56th District.
