Greece Community Education to offer various classes in October

Greece Community Education will offer many classes this fall for children and adults. For more information on any of the following programs, call 865-1010 or visit greece.augusoft.net.

“Just Earring” will take place from to 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 9 at Olympia, 1139 Maiden Lane. This class will teach students how to create beaded earrings and leave with 4-5 pairs of earrings and the ability to make more. The fee is $29.

“Beading Basics” will take to 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23 at Olympia. This class will teach students how to make beaded jewelry with a few supplies and tools. Students will leave with 2-3 pieces of jewelry. The cost is $29 and supplies are included.

“Floating Necklace and Earrings” will take to 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6 at Olympia. Students will create a three strand necklace and earrings. The cost is $29 and supplies are included.

“Create a Beaded Watch Band” will take to 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 13 at Olympia.  Students will learn how to create a watch band with stretch cord and beads. No previous beading experience required. Bring a watch face to class, or purchase one from the instructor for $10. All other supplies included and the class fee is $29.

“Welded Metal Sculpture” will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Rochester Arc and Flame Center, 125 Fedex Way. Class will introduce MIG and plasma cutting processes, and will combine lecture with hands-on training. The fee is $150.

“Blacksmithing Sampler “will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 10 and Nov. 7 at the Rochester Arc and Flame Center. Oct. 10 students will create a horse head key fob and Nov. 7 students will create a leaf key fob. The fee is $75.

“Learn to Skate” will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays from Nov. 2 through Dec. 22 at the Sports Centre at MCC, 2700 Brighton Henrietta Townline Road. The class is open to ages three to adult and will have 20 minutes of class and 40 minutes of practice. The fee is $100.

“Social Networking for Business” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Odyssey Academy, formerly Apollo Middle School, 750 Maiden Lane. Students will discover how online social networking a business. Topics include: setting up an account, do's and don'ts, and how to find the service that is best for you. The fee is $37.

“Operating a Small Business” will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 25 to Oct. 16 at Olympia. This class allows students to tap into the knowledge of experienced professionals at SCORE-Counselors to America’s Small Business. The fee is $45.

“Quickbooks” will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 2 to Nov. 6 at the Community Learning Center, located in the Mall at 170 Greece Ridge Center Drive. Class will offer hands-on instruction on Quickbooks 2011 and discussions on similarities and differences to other versions will be included. The fee is $239.

“Starting an eBusiness: An Introduction” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Olympia. This introductory class will include discussions on e-commerce, setting up and maintaining a website, and the potential costs and pitfalls involved. The fee is $29.

“Getting Paid to Talk: Voice-Overs as a Profession” will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 at Odyssey Academy. This class will explore the many aspects of voice-over work for television, film, radio, the internet, and more. The fee is $28.

“Microsoft Excel: Beginner” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays from Oct. 1 though Oct. 22 except Oct. 8 and also from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Community Learning Center at the Mall at Greece Ridge. This basic course will be an introduction to Excel 2007. The fee is $121.

“Online Auctions and More” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at Odyssey Academy, formerly Apollo Middle School, 750 Maiden Lane. This class will help students navigate online auctions. The fee is $37.

“Computers 101” will take place from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Oct. 3 and 10 and from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9 and 16 at the Community Learning Center at the Mall at Greece Ridge. The fee is $83.

“Using Your iPad” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays Oct. 4 and 11 at the Community Learning Center at the Mall at Greece Ridge.  This class will provide instruction for using an iPad including the settings and app store. The fee is $63.

“Learn to Dance the Security Tango” will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at Odyssey Academy. This class will teach the basics for protection using the time-tested methods described on security tango.com. Class combines lecture with demonstrations. The fee is $37.
