Ben Weitsman, a scrap metal processing company in Rochester, will hold a customer appreciation day and open house Saturday. The facility, located at 80 Steel St., Rochester, will host the events from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“This open house is an opportunity for us to thank the community for their support and the warm welcome we’ve received,” said Adam Weitsman, president of the Upstate Shredding – Ben Weitsman family of companies. “We invite everyone to join us for the day, see our facility and learn what we’re all about.” Upstate Shredding-Ben Weitsman closed on the purchase of the facility in July.
The event begins at 7 a.m., when the scrap yard doors open for business. All types of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals are sought, and a premium will be paid on all metals brought in during the one-day event.
Rochester band Uncle Plum will perform, and lunch will be provided by Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Several local and regional radio stations will be doing remote broadcasts from the open house, and both the stations and the company will be giving away gifts and prizes throughout the day.
Since Upstate’s purchase of the Rochester facility, numerous improvements have been made, making the new Ben Weitsman a state-of-the-art scrap operation. These investments include paving, new equipment and expended hours of operation. The improvements aren’t done, however – soon the facility will be home to a brand new, state-of-the art mega shredder from Riverside Engineering.
